Engagement Shoot Tips
Your Engagement Shoot will be a fun and sweet date with your fiance! Your Engagement photos will have a lot of variety in the types of shots, locations and backgrounds, activities and poses, and outfits. Here are some tips about outfits and your overall look.
Tips for couples:
- DO bring a 2-3 outfits each. Bring a mix of casual and semi-dressy.
- DO wear comfortable clothes. You’ll be sitting, walking, and even jumping and dancing at times.
- DO NOT wear bright white. Alternatively, DO wear ivory, khaki, or cream.
- DO NOT wear stripes.
- DO NOT match colors exactly, like both wearing red shirts. The better way to match is to both wear cool colors (blue, green, purple, light pink) OR both wear warm colors (orange, red, yellow, bright pink). Neutral colors like cream, khaki, grey, silver, gold, and black usually go with cool or warm colors.
Tips for just the gals:
- DO bring a pair of sandals to walk around in if you plan on wearing heels in the photos.
- BE AWARE that tube tops and strapless tops/dresses will make your arms look bigger on camera. Because of lenses and angles, it is more flattering to wear a jacket over a strapless, or instead wear something with straps or sleeves.
- DO bring accessories. Jewelry and hair accessories can give an outfit more character.
- DO wear makeup a little heavier than every day makeup. The camera flash will slightly lighten your face, so you may want to use bronzer or blush on your cheeks. Your eyes are often the focus of a portrait, so bring attention to them with more eyeliner and mascara.
- DO bring touch up powder/foundation and lipcolor, especially on hot days.
And most of all, DO come ready to have fun, snuggle, kiss, and enjoy the day together!!
Mister Ruby -
Anderson here. Finally marrying next fall. Wish to communicate about you running a photo booth, and maybe some casuals at the reception. It’s at the Visual Arts Center in the Fan (old Hand Workshop), so the space might appeal to you.
Unsure of your experience with formal wedding photography, so we may just ask you for the booth, and assorted groovy shit. You have a good eye. Could be very cool.
I’ll compensate you over your booth fee, and feed and drink you. Hope things are well.
